If there’s one classic pairing with figs, it’s cheese! Serve as a condiment with a cracker and cheese (and charcuterie) platter. Or, use to make a delectable baked brie. Simply cut a small round of brie in half, spread some fig preserves in the middle, join the top and bottom layers, cover with sliced almonds and bake. Add a layer of fig preserves to a grilled cheese sandwich, and you will be in taste heaven! For a mouthwatering flatbread or pizza, spread a layer of fig preserves on fully-baked dough, top with soft goat cheese or shaved Manchego, fresh arugula, Marcona almonds and a drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar. For a meat lovers’ version, bake the flatbread or pizza with the fig preserves, cheese, and prosciutto or pancetta and top with fresh arugula once out of the oven.
